BRHLL Supplemental Guidelines for Face Coverings and Social Distancing

Marion County has issued Public Health Order 20-2020 requiring individuals to wear masks or face covering in public to curb the spread of COVID-19.  To comply with the Order and promote player safety, BRHLL is issuing the following guidelines for face coverings while attending or participating in league activities.  These guidelines are intended to supplement the already issued BRHLL Social Distancing Guidelines 2020, which are available on the BRHLL web-site:

  • All BRHLL Players and Coaches will be provided a neck-gaiter type face covering.  Players and coaches may wear these or provide their own face covering.  The gaiters and personal face coverings should be cleaned regularly.
  • Players, coaches, parents, and spectators should wear facial coverings in common spaces (i.e. walkways, restrooms, handwashing stations, etc.…)
  • Once in an established location with appropriate social distancing, facial coverings are not required (i.e. player stations 6 ft apart, spectator groups 6 ft apart, etc.…)
  • On the field of play, players are not required to wear a facial covering as it could cause excessive respiratory effort during physical exertion.
  • On the field of play, coaches are not required to wear a facial covering as long as they are able to maintain a social distance of 6 ft.  If this is not possible (i.e. coaching first base, coaching third base, hands-on instruction, etc.…), the coach is asked to use their league provided gator for covering or another effective covering.
  • When players are on the sideline (i.e. offense, rest, injury, etc.…), they are asked to wear their facial coverings unless they are able to maintain a social distance of 6 feet at all times.
  • Exceptions to wearing a facial covering include the following: children under 2, individuals with psychological or emotional conditions that make wearing a mask difficult, individuals with health conditions that could be significantly worsened by wearing a facial covering, any individual in acute distress.

Our heartfelt thanks to IU Health for their care and support, providing these gaiters to keep the BRHLL community safe!
